Paying: no card fee published. Free: No card or payment fee is published on finnair.com/au-en (its payment-methods page lists cards, Apple Pay, Klarna and others with no surcharge); not verified in the booking flow.
- Economy Light from Australia has no checked bag: adding one costs EUR 100-120 (about A$160-192) each way if you prepay, or EUR 140 (about A$224) at the airport (ayExtraBags).
- Prepaid bag prices only work when Finnair operates every flight in that direction (Melbourne-Bangkok-Helsinki); via a partner from Sydney, Brisbane or Perth you pay at the airport, at the lead airline's rates (ayExtraBags).
- Neither Light nor Classic can be refunded; only Flex can. Every ticket can be cancelled free within 24 hours of booking if the flight is at least 7 days away (ayTicketTypes, ayChange).
- Seat fees aren't published and are charged per flight, so a stop each way means paying twice each way; Flex includes a Standard or Preferred seat on Finnair-operated flights only (aySeats, ayPerFlight).
- Changing a Classic or Flex ticket through customer service costs a service fee, and partner-operated flights can add a change fee; Finnair doesn't publish either amount (ayChange).
- The Melbourne flight is 'direct' but stops in Bangkok, where you must leave the plane and go back through security (ayMelbourne).
