Terms of use.
Interim terms, last updated 28 October 2026. A first legal review has been applied; final review by a lawyer is pending.
These terms cover faresfair.com.au and the FaresFair browser extension. By using either of them you agree to these terms. What we do with what you give us is on the privacy page.
Who runs FaresFair
FaresFair is run by Brodie Goodall trading as Crosstalk Studios, ABN 25 274 596 671, Canberra, Australia (“we”, “us”).
What FaresFair is, and isn't
- FaresFair is an independent airfare comparison and price-information service. It helps you compare what a flight may really cost once the bags, seat, meal, flexibility and payment fees you pick are added.
- We don't sell flights, take bookings or take payment for flights, and we aren't an airline.
- FaresFair is a guide. It isn't financial or travel advice.
Prices are a guide, not an offer
- Live fares come from our fare supplier, Duffel, which asks the airlines. Extra and fee prices come from the airline for those flights when we have them, or from the airline's own published prices, cited and dated. How the prices work.
- Where a price isn't published or can't be worked out reliably, we say so (or show a range) rather than give a falsely exact number.
- Fares, extras, fees and rules can change at any time, and a fare may sell out. A price shown here isn't an offer to sell you a flight. The final price and conditions are set by the airline or booking site when you book.
- The extras you pick are what we compare on, not a promise that every airline gives the same thing on the same conditions. Where we know of a real difference, we aim to show it. Check what you're getting before you pay.
- We don't claim to include every airline, fare or booking site.
Booking with someone else
A booking link takes you to an airline or another booking site. Anything you buy there is under that business's own terms and prices, and the contract for your flight is with them, not with FaresFair. We're still responsible for what we say on FaresFair.
Affiliate links
Some booking links are affiliate (referral) links. If you follow one and make a qualifying booking, FaresFair may earn a commission from the airline, booking site or its affiliate network. That money helps keep FaresFair free. Commissions aren't used to rank fares: fares are ranked first, by price (the real price of what you picked, or the advertised fare if you choose that), and the links are added after. We don't add any charge of our own through these links, though the booking site's own prices and fees apply. What a booking link passes on is on the privacy page.
Transparency scores
Airline transparency scores are FaresFair's own editorial scores, worked out with the method published on that page from the airline pages we cite. They describe how clearly an airline shows its prices and conditions. They aren't official ratings, aren't issued or endorsed by the ACCC or any other authority, and aren't findings that an airline has broken any law. Scores can change as airlines change their pages or we correct an error.
The browser extension
- On Google Flights it reads each result's price label; anywhere else it does nothing until you highlight a price and choose "Check the real price with FaresFair". It sends only what the check needs (see the privacy page).
- Use it lawfully and in line with the terms of the sites you use it on.
- Websites change their layouts, so it may not recognise every price, and what it supports may change.
Price alerts
A price alert uses the email address and trip you give us to tell you when the real price drops. An alert isn't a promise that a price will appear, or will still be there when you go to book. You can stop an alert with the link in its emails.
The petition
- Signing is voluntary. A signature counts only once you confirm it from the email we send you.
- The petition is an open letter from its signers to the ACCC. It isn't an ACCC investigation or finding, and the ACCC hasn't endorsed it or agreed to act on it.
- The letter goes to the ACCC with each confirmed signer's name, postcode and state. Email addresses are never sent to the ACCC or published.
- Your first name and state are shown on the petition page only if you tick that box.
- Only sign for yourself, with your real details.
- You can remove your signature with the link in your confirmation email, or ask us at hello@faresfair.com.au. Once the letter has been delivered, we can't take your name back from the ACCC.
"This fee looks wrong"
You can tell us when a fee, rule or score looks wrong. We'll look at what you send, may ask for more, and correct material errors where the evidence supports it. A report doesn't guarantee a change. We won't knowingly publish anything we believe is false or misleading.
Using it fairly
So that FaresFair stays free and works for everyone:
- There are limits on how many live searches can run. When a limit is reached, FaresFair will say so. Try again later.
- Don't use scripts or bots to search the site or copy it in bulk, and don't try to get around the limits.
- Don't interfere with the site, overload or attack it, or try to get into anything you're not meant to.
- Don't add fake signatures to the petition, sign for someone else, or use anyone else's details without their permission.
- Don't use FaresFair for anything unlawful.
We may take reasonable, proportionate steps, such as blocking or limiting access, to stop serious misuse.
Our content
FaresFair's own text, design, software and scores belong to Crosstalk Studios or are used with permission. Airline names and trade marks belong to their owners. Nothing here stops quoting, research or any other use the law allows.
Changes and availability
We may change, pause or stop features, the airlines and partners we cover, and the extension. We aim to keep FaresFair accurate and running, but can't promise it will always be available. We may update these terms when the service or the law changes; the date at the top shows when they last changed. Using FaresFair after a change means you accept the new version. Where the law needs more notice or your fresh agreement, we'll give or ask for it.
Your rights and our responsibility
We take reasonable care to show prices and rules accurately and not to mislead. We don't promise that every fare, fee or booking site is included, or that a price shown will still be available when you book. We're responsible for our own statements and conduct as the law provides.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can't be excluded.
Complaints
If you have a concern about FaresFair, including price accuracy, affiliate links, privacy or accessibility, email hello@faresfair.com.au. We'll consider it fairly and reply. You can still go to a regulator or use any other remedy the law gives you.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory, Australia, subject to any law that applies to you where you live and can't be excluded. Disputes may be decided by any court that has jurisdiction.
